Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is a safe, effective way to reduce unwanted facial and body hair using targeted laser energy. By disabling the hair follicle at the root, this treatment offers long-term hair reduction without the ongoing discomfort of waxing, shaving, or electrolysis. Treatments are quick, customizable, and suitable for both men and women seeking smoother skin with less maintenance. Offering a more permanent approach to reducing body hair, this treatment has little downtime and can drastically reduce hair growth by about 80 to 90%. Not to mention, you’ll be in and out of your appointment in no time, since the laser works so quickly.
We use both the Cutera XEO and Cutera Excel HR, medical-grade systems cleared for permanent hair reduction and designed to safely treat a wide range of skin tones and hair types year-round. They feature 1064 nm ND: YAG and 755 nm Alexandrite wavelengths.
How It Works
Laser hair removal uses pulses of concentrated light that are absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This light energy converts to heat, damaging the hair follicle and reducing its ability to produce new hair. Because hair grows in cycles, multiple treatments are required to effectively target follicles during their active growth phase.
The Cutera XEO and Cutera Excel HR systems enable us to tailor treatments based on skin tone, hair type, and treatment area, delivering effective results while protecting surrounding skin year-round.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Protect your skin: Avoid direct sun exposure for 5 to 7 days before your appointment to reduce the risk of sensitivity.
Keep the root intact: Shave or trim the treatment area prior to your visit. To reduce/prevent razor bumps, try using conditioner to shave. Do not wax or pluck, as the follicle must be present for treatment to work.
Prep the skin: Gently exfoliate the area using an enzyme-based exfoliant to create a smooth surface.
Support skin comfort: Hydrate the treatment area with a fragrance-free or low-scent moisturizer.
Commit to the process: Laser hair removal works best as a series. Avoid waxing or plucking between sessions so follicles can be properly targeted.
Share medical history: Inform your provider of any medications, active skin conditions, or recent treatments.
-
Expect temporary skin responses: Small red bumps or mild swelling around hair follicles are common and usually resolve quickly.
Let shedding happen: Treated hair will fall out over 1 to 2 weeks. Continue shaving or trimming as needed to support shedding.
Avoid heat exposure: Skip hot tubs, saunas, and excessive heat for 24 to 48 hours post-treatment.
Protect from sun: Avoid direct sun exposure for at least 48 hours and apply broad-spectrum SPF daily.
Care for skin gently: If blistering or crusting occurs, treat the area gently and avoid ice or picking.
Avoid waxing or plucking: Between treatments, shaving or trimming only ensures optimal results for future sessions.
Stay in touch: Reach out if you have any concerns.

Laser hair removal is generally ineffective for grey, white, or light blonde hair because the laser targets melanin (pigment). While darker blonde hair may see success with our ND Yag & Alexandrite laser, grey and red hair rarely respond. We recommend electrolysis as a permanent alternative for these hair colours.
We suggest a professional consultation and patch test to determine if your hair has enough pigment.

Yes, laser hair removal is effective for those with PCOS. However, please note that more sessions may be required, as PCOS-related hair growth can be more persistent.

Mild redness, swelling, or warmth is common and typically resolves within a short period. Treated hair will shed gradually over 1 to 2 weeks.
