Before Your Facial: Prepare to Glow

Your journey to radiant skin begins before you step into the treatment room. These thoughtful pre-care rituals will help you arrive feeling confident and ready to receive the full benefits of your facial.

1. Tune In to Your Skin: Take a moment to connect with your skin. What do you love about it? What would you like to refine or renew? Knowing this helps us personalize your treatment with care and purpose.

2. Know What You’re Using: Your at-home skincare routine plays a beautiful role in your skin’s overall health. We may ask about the products you use, so feel free to bring a list or snap a photo.

3. Hold Off on Hair Removal: Avoid shaving or waxing for 48 hours before your appointment. This allows your skin to be calm and ready to receive nourishing care.

4. Sun-Kissed, Not Sun-Stressed: Please steer clear of tanning beds and limit sun exposure for at least one week before your facial. This ensures your skin isn’t sensitized when you arrive.

5. Ease Up on Exfoliation: In the 2–3 days leading up to your facial, avoid strong exfoliants. We’ll take care of that during your treatment, and overdoing it beforehand can leave your skin vulnerable.

After Your Facial: Protect the Glow

You’ve just given your skin the gift of deep renewal. Now it’s time to honour that glow and help your skin continue to heal, hydrate, and shine from within.

1. Take a Break: Give your skin time to rest and absorb the goodness from your treatment. Skip washing your face today. Tomorrow, keep your skincare simple and nourishing.

2. Drink Up: Staying hydrated supports overall skin health and can help your skin feel comfortable after treatment. Continue drinking water throughout the day as you normally would.

3. Gentle is Golden: Give your skin time to rest and absorb the goodness from your treatment. Keep your skincare simple and supportive, nourishing rather than stripping.

4. Skip the Scrub: Avoid exfoliating products unless we’ve recommended one specifically. Your skin is doing important behind the scenes work, so let it.

5. Hands Off, Beautiful: We know it’s tempting, but try not to touch your face. Keeping your hands away prevents irritation and helps your results last longer.

6. No Picking, Please: We get it, it’s tough! But picking post facial can lead to redness, irritation, and even scarring. Trust your skin to release what it no longer needs naturally.

7. Wait to Wax: Give your skin 48 hours before waxing again. Let it stay calm and soothed after your facial.

8. Keep Makeup Light: Your skin may be more sensitive immediately after treatment. If possible, avoid foundation or heavier makeup for 24 hours, especially following exfoliation or extractions. When you resume makeup, use clean brushes and non comedogenic products.

9. Enjoy a Rest Day: Heat and perspiration may increase temporary redness or sensitivity. If your treatment included exfoliation or extractions, avoid intense exercise, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours, or follow the specific aftercare provided by your BUB aesthetician.

10. Temporary Changes: Mild redness, sensitivity or an occasional breakout can happen after certain treatments, particularly when exfoliation or extractions are involved. This should not automatically be considered ‘purging.’ Please contact us if a reaction is painful, persistent, worsening or unexpected.

If your skin is experiencing significant irritation, an active flare, infection or a compromised barrier, we may modify or postpone treatment to protect your skin.

To get the most out of your experience, avoid tanning, waxing, and exfoliating acids like retinols or glycolic or salicylic acid for 48 hours before your appointment. Come hydrated, and if you can, reflect on how your skin’s been feeling lately. This insight helps us curate your treatment.

Not at all! Some treatments, like extractions or deeper exfoliation, may cause mild discomfort, but we always work within your comfort level. Your facial should feel relaxing, refreshing, and nurturing, never harsh or invasive.
