Before and After Care: Discover the Secrets to Best Results

Like my girl scout leader said: Always come prepared.

Okay, I was never in the girl scouts, but the rule still applies. Preparation will enhance your comfort, ease your experience, and allow your mind to relax during your treatments. Not to mention it makes our jobs a little bit easier too. For certain treatments, pre and post-care steps will make a huge difference in the effectiveness and longevity of your service. Let’s get to it.

Secret RF Microneedling

Secret RF Microneedling can be a little bit different for everyone, depending on which skin condition it’s treating. Be it acne scars, fine lines, or photodamage; it’s a novel approach, to deliver fractional radio frequency (RF) energy to all layers of the skin with minimal damage to the skin’s surface.

For best results, follow these pre and post care guidelines!

Before your visit:

  • Arrive au natural - that means no makeup, you natural beauty, you.

  • Wear a loose shirt or button up, anything easy to get on or off. Oh, and bring a hair tie.

  • Shave any excess hair - that means a clean, close shave for the gentlemen.

  • NO suntanning FOUR weeks prior to your appointment. Yes, that includes tanning beds, spray tans, and tanning lotions.cAvoid skin irritants, for example: Products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C/ascorbic acid, astringents, etc.

  • Keep us in the loop regarding any changes to your health. Note: a history of coldsores may require an antiviral prescription prior to treatment.

  • Use medical grade skin care products. Ask us - we’ll help you choose!

  • Eat up! Don’t arrive on an empty stomach.

Post Pampering:

  • HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE!

  • Use this magic solution on gauze if your skin is feeling hot or irritated after your treatment. One part white vinegar, 10 parts water. Let sit for 5-15 minutes. Rinse and repeat as often as you’d like.

  • Wait four hours before washing face, applying creams, or putting on makeup. Best to avoid the makeup all together.

  • Avoid sun exposure, and use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen to prevent further sun damage.

  • No saunas or hot tubs for two days.

  • CLEAN everything that touches your face - pillow cases, glasses, phone, etc.

  • No kiddie hands on your face. No pets licking your face.

  • Avoid skin irritants for a few days after treatment:

    • Products containing tretinoin, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, glycolic/salicylic acids, vitamin C/ascorbic acid, astringents, etc.

  • Do NOT exfoliate for at least 5-7 days post treatment- please consult clinic if your unsure.

  • Don’t be alarmed by any bruising or swelling, they’ll resolve with time.

  • Keep us posted! If you’re experiencing any blistering, excessive redness, or swelling, let us know. Multiple treatments may be required (three if you’re aiming to lose a decade)!
